Hooked wins at Caulfield April 15th 2017

6YO Hooked won his first race in some time on Saturday 15th April 2017 at Caulfield in the 1400m Group 3 handicap ridden by jockey Luke Nolen.
Trainer Robert Smerdon said “You have a plan in the back of your mind about how a race is going to play out and you hope that it does but more often than not some other variable comes into play and it doesn’t work out, but today just went as we’d expected and hoped,” Smerdon said.

“He had the barrier, he got a really good cart along and was able to present at the right time so it went exactly as it looked it might.”

Hooked wins the Tramway Stakes at Royal Randwick

Hooked led from start to finish & won the Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick! Ridden by Tye Angland, Hooked sprinted ahead of fierce competition from the off and secured an excellent win!

A great start to Spring Carnival for owner Sean Buckley, trainer John Thompson and Ultra Thoroughbreds.

Sean Buckley’s Ultra Thoroughbreds buy stallion Hooked

A great week for Sean Buckley and the team at Ultra Thoroughbreds as they purchase exciting stallion Hooked for $600,000 at the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast. Sean Buckley commented: “the horse was purchased by Ultra Thoroughbred Racing and will race in our colours in the Epsom Handicap on Saturday.” He will continue to be trained by John Thompson.

Hooked is a 4yo bay stallion and is sired by the stallion Casino Prince out of the dam Absolute Lure. On 17th Sep 2014 at Newcastle, Hooked was ridden by Blake Shinn and scored his most significant win to date, getting the money in the $151,100 Strathayr Cameron Handicap, defeating Rugged Cross (GB).
